Matt Stajan - Player of the Week

The old adage of “good things happen to good people” has rung true recently for Matt Stajan – both on and off the ice.

Many around the hockey world are thrilled to see how things have taken a positive turn, following a very difficult year for him and his family. At the beginning of March, Matt and his wife Katie welcomed a new son into their family. The arrival of Elliott Emerson Stajan is an absolute joy to the new parents and their friends and family in Calgary and elsewhere.

On the ice, Matt has been playing a crucial role in helping the Flames maintain their position in the hunt for a Western Conference playoff berth. His veteran presence and leadership is key for the young group in Calgary, and his recent offensive input has been a welcome addition as well. While he was away from the team to prepare for Elliott’s arrival, Stajan stepped back into the lineup in the middle of the Flames’ playoff chase and immediately made an impact. The pivot has collected 4 points in the Flames’ past five games, including two goals in a huge 6-3 win over Anaheim on March 11th.

Congrats to Matt on the recent addition to his family and on the Flames’ continued success. His personal milestone and his play on the ice make him the Player of the Week!
