Often imitated but never duplicated, the NHLPA Player Poll is back with our 2019-20 edition. Nearly 600 NHL players were surveyed on more than 20 hockey-related questions. Players weighed in on a variety of topics – covering skills, arenas, teams and some off-ice fun!
Here are this season's #NHLPAPlayerPoll results, which were collected prior to the NHL season's suspension of play.

While there’s a strong group of exceptional forwards in the game, Connor McDavid’s combination of speed and skill separates him from the pack to take this category for a second straight year.

A pillar of strength, skill, and dependability, Victor Hedman has followed up his 2017-18 Norris Trophy win with two consecutive player-voted titles of best defenceman in the league. Meanwhile, John Carlson entered the conversation as a runner-up for the first time.

Poise, consistency, excellence, focus – Carey Price continues to demonstrate these key qualities that have helped earn him the nod for best goalie in the eyes of the players for two years in a row.

He scored the golden goal, has won three Stanley Cups and owns a trophy case full of individual accolades, which includes three Ted Lindsay Awards. Sidney Crosby’s consistency, together with his ability to excel in the game’s biggest moments made him the pick for who the players would want on their side with one game on the line.

The top vote-getters in the category include recent Selke Trophy winners, the player voted to be best in the game in this season’s poll and, of course, Sidney Crosby. Despite so many well-rounded players, it is Crosby who gets the nod in this category. He does everything at such a consistently high level and carries a worth ethic that few can match.

For as long as Brad Marchand has been recognized as one of the game's best players, he's also been acknowledged for his legendary trash-talking prowess. A back-to-back win in this category only further solidifies his place in hockey chirp history.

For a second consecutive year, Brad Marchand is the best and worst trash-talker. Somehow, we think this only sweetens the accolade for him.

No. 99 owns virtually every NHL scoring record, and the entire membership certainly can appreciate his greatness. If the players are paying admission to watch anyone, it’s Wayne Gretzky who they would want to see on the ice.

With quick wit and his sharp delivery of a joke, to go along with his incredible on-ice skills, Keith Yandle is widely considered to be the funniest man in hockey.

With a pair of Olympic golden goals (2010 and 2014) to her name and a stacked track record for delivering in crucial moments, it's easy to see why the players voted No. 29 first on the list.

A good chirp doesn’t have to be the only way the players express themselves on the ice. The majority of players – 53% of respondents on this question – are open to seeing a little equipment customization, while 47% are comfortable with the status quo.
