Sidney Crosby posted a four-point night to bring him 171 in his NHL postseason career, moving the Pittsburgh Penguins captain one point away from tying Mario Lemieux for the franchise record in postseason points.
Crosby (1-3–4) finished as the game's first star, registering his third four-point outing in a Stanley Cup Playoffs game. The Penguins captain scored the game's opening goal on a wraparound in the first period, and went on to lead Pittsburgh forwards in ice time with 21:35.
Crosby picked up his first assist of the night on Evgeni Malkin's second-period tally to help the Penguins tie the NHL record for two fastest goals scored in a postseason game, matching the Detroit Red Wings' feat (achieved April 11, 1965 against the Chicago Blackhawks).
"We've got a couple days so it's good to get this one," Crosby told reporters postgame. "Now, we come back having that first one played here, got a feel for it, and that should help us here going into Game 4."
The Flyers can potentially even up the 2-1 series on home ice at Wells Fargo Center with Wednesday's puck drop on Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round matchup.
