Born in Peace River, Alberta, "Ozzie" is featured in his first season with the New York Islanders, but is most remembered for his time with the Detroit Red Wings. He and Brett take in a New York Jets football game to get acclimated in his new surroundings, but his stint in New York wouldn't last very long.
Osgood won two Stanley Cups and his first William M. Jennings Trophy with the Detroit before heading to Long Island. He would rejoin the club in 2005-06 to eventually win a third Stanley Cup and second William M. Jennings Trophy in 2007-08 with the club. He built to 317 wins in a Red Wings uniform, second only to Terry Sawchuk for the most in franchise history.
Then and now
After more than 400 NHL wins and with three Stanley Cups to his name, Osgood announced his retirement July 19, 2011. He left his mark in the NHL record book with the 13th most wins for a netminder – and right between two NHL goaltending legends with 12 more wins than former teammate Dominik Hasek, and just two behind tying Grant Fuhr.
Osgood remained with the "Winged Wheel" working as a scout and in goalie development before assuming his current role as a Red Wings studio analyst and part-time colour commentator for Fox Sports Detroit.
