Kevin Shattenkirk joins NHLPA Staff
Former NHL defenceman who played in 952 regular-season NHL games and won the Stanley Cup in 2019-20 begins in the role of Divisional Player Representative

TORONTO, ON (March 7, 2025) – National Hockey League Players’ Association Executive Director Marty Walsh today announced that Kevin Shattenkirk has joined the NHLPA’s staff as a Divisional Player Representative.
“We are excited to welcome Kevin back to the NHLPA. His long playing career has provided him with an in-depth understanding of the game and strong connections to today’s players,” said Marty Walsh, NHLPA Executive Director. “He was an extremely active member of the Association during his playing career. His knowledge of the NHLPA and his many relationships around the league will undoubtedly be a great asset to our players.”
Shattenkirk played in 952 NHL games for the St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks and Boston Bruins. During his playing career, Kevin served the NHLPA in a variety of roles, including as a member of the Executive Board, the 2012-13 Negotiating Committee, the 2022-23 Executive Director Search Committee, and the NHL Player Inclusion Coalition.
“My playing career may be behind me, but my passion for the game and the players remains strong. I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my hockey life working at the NHLPA,” said Kevin Shattenkirk. “It was important to me as a player to be involved with the NHLPA, and I am excited to now devote my energies to helping the NHLPA work for the best interests of players, both on and off the ice.”
Shattenkirk joins former players Chris Campoli, Joe Reekie and Rob Zamuner as Divisional Player Representatives and will report to NHLPA Assistant Executive Director Ron Hainsey.
