TORONTO (May 23, 2019) The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) issued the following statement today regarding the impartial arbitrator’s decision concerning the Vyacheslav Voynov suspension:

“The CBA between the NHL and NHLPA entitles players to appeal League discipline to an independent arbitrator. This fundamental due process right is designed to ensure that, even in difficult cases involving domestic violence, the NHL’s disciplinary procedures and decisions are fair and consistent. The NHLPA continues to work with the NHL to educate players about domestic violence.”
