Glenn Healy Announced as Executive Director of NHL Alumni Association
The NHL Alumni Association has announced the new Executive Director - Glenn Healy who will be commencing his new full-time position immediately from his current Co-Chairman and interim Executive Director position with the NHL Alumni.
TORONTO June 19, 2017 - The NHL Alumni Association is excited to announce the new Executive Director - Glenn Healy who will be commencing his new full-time position immediately from his current Co-Chairman and interim Executive Director position with the NHL Alumni. Glenn is a former goaltender with a 15 year NHL Career. He has served as the Director of Player Affairs for the National Hockey League Players' Association. In his capacity with the NHLPA, he also served as a non-voting member of the National Hockey League Competition Committee. In Glenn's well rounded post-career, he served as hockey color commentator and analyst, first for the CBC and then for TSN. Healy also served as the secondary color commentator for the NHL on TSN and as on ice-level analyst for TSN's Toronto Maple Leafs telecasts. He moved back to analyzing games for CBC's Hockey Night in Canada before joining the NHL on the Sportsnet crew.
The National Hockey League stated, "We congratulate the NHL Alumni Association on its choice to have Glenn Healy lead the organization into the future. Glenn is bright, loves the game and is passionate about the Players who played in our League. We certainly look forward to working with him and partnering in support of initiatives that will benefit former Players."
The National Hockey League Players’ Association commented, “Congratulations to Glenn Healy on being named the new head of the NHL Alumni Association. Glenn previously gained important experience with the NHLPA both as a player and an executive, and he has a strong passion for the Players and great knowledge of the game. We look forward to working with him in his new role representing alumni members.”
Wayne Gretzky #99 expressed, "The one thing that every NHL Player has in common is that one day we will be part of the Alumni, which is very special, but we need a hard working leader that will run the NHL Alumni the same way he approached the game: hard working, intense and unselfish. I believe Glenn Healy is the right guy to lead us into the future, that will work hard with the Alumni Players, the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League."
The NHL Alumni Association is also thrilled to announce that Wayne McBean has been appointed the new Co-Chairman of the NHL Alumni Board of Directors. Wayne not only had a six year NHL career, but also brings a vast business experience as a partner in two flourishing Golf Courses - Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona and Lakeside Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta. The NHL Alumni Association would like to welcome former NHL'er and current St. Louis Blues color commentator - Kelly Chase to the NHL Alumni Board of Directors.
Glenn, Wayne and Kelly are welcome additions to the NHL Alumni Association and will be instrumental in the successful future direction of the organization.
