Jack Eichel is on his way to his first All-Star game after helping the Buffalo Sabres to an undefeated week before the break.

Eichel's week started with overtime heroics on the road with the Sabres visiting the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome. He registered seven shots on goal before lighting the lamp 1:30 into the extra frame. Eichel led team forwards with 23:16 of ice time and was named the game's third star for swaying the 2-1 decision for Buffalo.

The Sabres' road trip continued with them closing out a back-to-back in Edmonton the next day at Rogers Place. Buffalo goaltender Robin Lehner turned aside all 33 shots he faced to help propel the Sabres to a decisive 5-0 blanking of the Oilers to earn the game's second star  behind Eichel who was bestowed first star of the game honours for his four-point outing. Eichel netted a trio of assists and his 20th goal of the season.

The alternate captain and the Sabres closed out their third road victory in three games with a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena. Lehner turned in another shutout, the eighth of his career, while Eichel tallied two shots on goal and skated in 16:43 of ice time.

The North Chelmsford, Massachusetts-born centre also tied for a league-high five points over the week.

Eichel and the rest of the league now press pause on regular season action for the 2018 NHL All-Star Game, where Eichel will skate in his first All-Star appearance.
