Executive Board

The Executive Board of the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) is comprised of 30 Club Player Representatives, one from each team. Following the framework of the NHLPA constitution, the Executive Board is tasked with directing the NHLPA affairs and making decisions that it considers necessary to carry out the NHLPA’s work. The Executive Director, while responsible for managing the NHLPA’s daily affairs, is a non-voting member of the Executive Board.

Executive Director

Don Fehr is the Executive Director of the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), the union for active players in the National Hockey League (NHL). Since assuming the post in 2010, Don has focused on building active participation among players in their union, and has travelled extensively to meet and consult with members around the league. Don serves as chief negotiator in collective bargaining with the NHL.

Competition Committee

The National Hockey League (NHL) Competition Committee is responsible for making recommendations about rules and related issues to the NHL Board of Governors and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) Executive Board. The NHLPA is represented on the committee by up to 10 voting members, who are joined by Club officials and a non-voting supervisor.
