Certified Player Agents

The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) requires player agents to complete an Agent Certification Program. This program governs the standards of professional conduct and education that an agent must continually maintain, and enables agents to demonstrate their ability to provide appropriate representation. Certification by the NHLPA through the Agent Certification Program is mandatory for individuals to be recognized as a player representative.

Agent Applications

The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) requires individuals to complete an Agent Certification Program in order to be recognized as a player representative. This process ensures that player agents are aware of the standards of conduct and education they are expected to maintain, and provides a safeguard for the NHLPA membership.

The first step to becoming a certified player representative is to submit a completed “Application for Certification as an NHLPA Player Agent.” This thorough questionnaire requires great detail on the applicant’s professional and educational background. At this time, applications must be made in writing, either by fax or by mail to:
