Hockey Fights Cancer

Hockey Fights Cancer is a charitable initiative of the National Hockey League Players’ Association and the National Hockey League to raise money and awareness for hockey’s most important fight.

Each October, Hockey Fights Cancer logos pop up on player helmets, arena ice and boards, and on special lavender ties worn by coaches to commemorate Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month. The initiative is supported by online auctions, local tournaments, 50/50 raffles, ticket donations to local children’s hospitals and cancer-affiliated programs, fundraising runs and walks and more.

If you can't wait for October, Hockey Fights Cancer ties, bracelets, hats and more can be purchased year-round at

Founded in 1998, Hockey Fights Cancer has raised more than $13 million to support national and local cancer research institutions, children’s hospitals, player charities and local cancer organizations. NHL member clubs, NHL alumni, the NHL Officials’ Associations, Professional Hockey Trainers and Equipment Managers, corporate marketing partners and fans support the initiative across North America.
